Softub Control Panel Not Working (How to Fix)

The most common reason the Softub control panel stops working is because of an issue with the ground fault circuit interruption (GFCI) the tub is plugged into or an issue with the power supply. However, it can sometimes be down to a bad fuse or a faulty panel.

I’ll go through some steps to take below depending on the problem you’re facing with the control panel. However, if it still doesn’t work after, you might need to take it to a dealer.

The Panel is Blank or the LED Display is Off

The most common problem is the entire panel going blank or the LED screen turning off. The issue is usually the result of the wall switch.

To try and solve this, follow the power cord back to the plug and find the GFCI the tub is plugged into – it should have three prongs and two buttons on it. Push the “reset” button and then the “test” button. Head back to the control panel to see if the lights are on.

If they’re still not on, go back to the plug socket as there might be a problem with the power supply.

The tub should be connected to a 110 – 120 volt outlet with an isolated power supply of 15 amps. To see if the supply is functioning, plug something like a hair dryer into it to see if it’s working. If it isn’t, you’ve found your problem and it’s time to replace the socket.

If the power seems to be fine, the GFCI could be malfunctioning or the Softub motor is faulty causing the GFCI to trip. If this is the case, you may need to get the unit serviced.

The Temperature Won’t go Down

Another common problem is the control panel is on but the temperature buttons aren’t working. Usually, you’ll find the button to increase the temperature works ok but the decrease button doesn’t.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a DIY fix here unless you’re good with electronics. You will have to take it down to a dealer for servicing.

The Power Light Keeps Flashing

Sometimes, the power light will blink on the main control panel and refuse to stop. If this happens, hit the “reset” button on the panel and wait a bit. This should stop the blinking.

If it doesn’t unplug and plug the Softub back in again. Sometimes, the old faithful technique of turning it on and off again can work.

If the power light still blinks, you’ll need to get the unit serviced.

The LED Display is Flashing

If the LED display is just flashing, the problem usually lies in the tub temperature. Let the tub cool down for a minute until it’s below 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The LED display should stop blinking.

However, if it continues to blink, you may have a problem with the control panel or the tub’s motor. In this case, you’ll need to take it to a dealer.

How Much Does it Cost to Replace?

If you’ve discovered you’re going to have to replace the control panel, you’re going to have to pay out for a new one with a dealer.

Typically, control panels and their installation will set you back around $400 depending on what fuse is blown. This cost can vary depending on the installer and dealer, of course.

Can You Replace the Control Panel Yourself?

Yes, but you’ll need specialist knowledge or will have to be good with electronics. There are some videos online of owners fixing their panels themselves. It’s far too complicated to explain in this post.

Here is a video you can use if you’re looking to do a DIY job:
